Related to country: Ghana

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I learnt that in Ghana they have found at least two ways of converting waste to wealth.

I) they convert broken bottles into glass beads for jewelllery and hair adornment.

II) they have discovered the art of converting used plastic paper into fashionable carrier bags.

We can do more!!!!!!!!!!!

Foreign aid to Africa I- The Pitfalls
Related to country: Nigeria

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

The western world has been known for its generosity to the third world countries especially Africa. But their grants never get to those who need it.
Now i proffer a solution to anyone who is willing to send grants to Africa, so that the grant will benefit those who actually need it, not to enrich the pockets of the corrupt.

The solution i proffer will create job opportunities, and get to those who need it. This solution is credit worthy i.e the sponsor knows that his money is being used to better other people's lives as he/she intended, and he gets feedback on the projects that he has been able to sponsor.

are u interested?

EVERYDAY MIRACLES Series
Related to country: Nigeria

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I planned to wake up early today to get to work on time so as to start the Antenatal clinic early. This is because the unit I am in has the highest number of patients in the hospital. But, alas, I woke up late, and got the bus-stop late. Usually on Monday morning, getting to Lagos Island is tedious. When I got to the bus-stop, there was a large crowd. I decided to take a motorbike, popularly called okada in Nigeria, to work. A passerby advised against and told me to take the BRT (bus rapid transit) which I did. Fortunately for me i was the last person to enter the bus, and I stood for a about 10 minutes before someone near me got off the bus and I was able to sit. Luckily the traffic was not tight and I got to work early. I spent about 1 hour in the bus, which is quite good.
I started the clinic and I achieved my primary aim of getting to the hospital early.

What are the miracles?
i) I got a BRT bus early,
ii) I got a seat early,
iii) I got to work early
iv) I started the clinic and achieved my primary aim of starting the clinic.

More on my everyday miracles!!!!!!!!

WASTE part II
Related to country: United States

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

This article is global in nature

Yesterday I talked about the potentials of wastes, both domestic and industrial. I have thought up more uses of waste.

Clothing wastes like the pieces of cloth generated by tailors could be used in making new and interesting designs.

Plastics could be recycled over and over again. They could be made into ornamental articles, such as flowers

Domestic wastes could be made into fertilizers.

Domestic wastes especially sewage could be harnessed to generate power, especially in these days of increase in oil prices.

Sometimes, these wastes could be used in sandfilling, buildings, and reclaiming of lands.

Industrial wastes could be used to manufacture electrical appliances such as electric fans, television sets, radio sets, electric iron.

In rare cases, with the principle of electrolysis, gold, silver and copper could be recovered.

Waste! Waste!! Waste!!!
Related to country: Nigeria

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Wherever I look, I see a lot of waste being generated. Is it hospital, industrial, or domestic waste?
Now as I see lots of waste, I also see lots of money-making opportunities.
I learnt recently in Ghana, that they now produce bags for export, and guess the raw materials for the production of those bags - discarded water satchets, popularly called 'pure water' in Nigeria. Now that is one good use of waste, but there should be others.

I have this strong desire to help reduce poverty and I see waste management as one vital key to reducing unemployment in Nigeria.

So I challenge youths out there to think up ways of recycling wastes for the benefit of mankind.

These are a few examples of what waste can be turned to:- costume jewellery; parts of vehicles and electronics, home art, amongst other things.
There is a lot to be made from waste, let's take advantage of it.

WASTE = MONEY!!!!!!!!!
